The Ontario Government will host a series of public consultations beginning next month to examine the province's forests after the release of a industry review.

The paper, entitled Ontario’s Forests, Ontario’s Future, deals with how the province should modernize forest tenure and pricing – the system it uses to determine how wood supplies are licensed, allocated and priced, as well as the associated legal obligations.

A series of stakeholder and public consultations will take place in Sault Ste. Marie, Sept. 17; Timmins, Sept. 22; Hearst, Sept. 24; Dryden, Sept. 29; Thunder Bay, Oct. 1; Marathon, Oct. 6; Huntsville, Oct. 13 and Pembroke, Oct. 14.

Additional sessions will be held with Aboriginal organizations and communities. The discussion paper is available on the Environmental Registry at www.ontario.ca/environmentalregistry , registry number 010-7614.
