Porter Airlines posted a record 2.1 million passengers in 2011.
Those year-round numbers included a December load factor of 63.9 per cent, about 1.5 points higher than during the same month the previous year.
Those figures bested the ridership totals of 1.56 million for 2010.
The Toronto-based business-class air carrier, now in its fifth year of operation, celebrated another wave of expansion in 2011, adding new destinations in Windsor and Sault Ste. Marie, plus adding more flights to Sudbury and Thunder Bay, as well as to U.S. cities. Service to Timmins starts Jan. 16.
The airline recorded its five millionth passenger on its anniversary last October.
“We're proud of what we accomplished as a team and are ready to make our mark in 2012,” said CEO Robert Deluce in a Jan 5 release.
