Parry Sound's airport is undergoing another round of construction and expansion.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) announced June 16 it has delivered $495,000 to develop a two-hectare area east of the airstrip for 24 private hangars and three large commercial hangars.
The site preparation includes rock blasting to accommodate new power, water and sewer connections.
The Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport is located 20 kilometres south of the town in Seguin Township.
The NOHFC has previously committed a total of $375,000 for airport improvements in 2006 and 2008 to create 30 private hangars.
The project is being overseen by the Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre.
The airport commission has a successful track record of attracting new tenants in aviation and non-aviation light manufacturing at its growing industrial park including Found Aircraft, an anchor tenant since 1999.
