Ontario Hydro is set to spend $2.3 billion on transmission and distribution projects across the province.
The 20 transmission projects and investment into the distribution network is said to create 20,000 jobs over the next three years.
Six core network upgrades are moving forward including north-south lines from Sudbury to Barrie, and east-west lines from Nipigon to Wawa.
The province said these projects will help ensure there is enough transmission capacity for renewable generation resulting from the province's Green Energy Act.
Because of the massive scope of the transmission projects, Hydro One may involved third party commercial entities. Aboriginal communities will be consulted and provided with opportunities to participate in the projects.
