Northern Ontario's post-secondary institutions have received almost $36.7 million from the federal government after two rounds of infrastructure funding announcements.

The announcements came on May 25 and May 29 through the Knowledge and Infrastructure program, which delivered $1.5 billion in funding to Ontario's post-secondary institutions.

On May 29, Algoma University received $8 million, Sault College received $6.23 million and Confederation College received $8 million in the latest batch of announcements.

Earlier in the week on May 25, Laurentian University's Living with Lakes Centre received $5.2 million, Northern College received $6.2 million and Canadore College received $3.1 million.

Sudbury's Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation didn't receive infrastructure funding in either of the May announcements because it didn't have any shovel ready projects. However, $11 million of federal and provincial funding was put towards building a Canadian mining innovation centre at the University of Toronto.
