A joint venture of Larocque Elder Architects Inc. (North Bay), ANO Architects Inc. (Timmins-Sudbury) and Halsall Associates Ltd. received a Northern Ontario Excellence Award at the annual Wood Works award in Toronto, Nov. 5.

The use of a variety of structural and non-structural wood components in the hospital project pays homage to the town's logging history. The award goes to a project unique to the North and recognizes the contribution the region makes to the forest economy. The design and engineering team used locally grown and renewable wood materials. The Northern Ontario project team were one of nine awards handed out in areas of green building design, interior design, commercial and institutional design.
