Northern communities feted for tourism marketing

A pair of Northern Ontario organizations has been recognized for excellence in tourism marketing by the Economic Developers of Ontario. The City of Elliot Lake won in the tourism category for its visitors' guide, while Sault Ste.

A pair of Northern Ontario organizations has been recognized for excellence in tourism marketing by the Economic Developers of Ontario.

The City of Elliot Lake won in the tourism category for its visitors' guide, while Sault Ste. Marie Tourism won for its Meetings, Conventions and & Sports Guide.

A number of northern organizations also received honourable mentions.

Tourism Sault Ste. Marie was a finalist in two additional categories for its Agawa Canyon Tour Train advertising campaign and its website, www.saulttourism.com.

North Bay Regional Health Centre was a finalist for its physician recruitment campaign, while the Township of Terrace Bay was a finalist in the redevelopment initiative category for its Terrace Bay Downtown Revitalization initiative.

The 2011 Ontario Economic Development Marketing Awards are open to all those undertaking municipal economic development activities within the province of Ontario.
