Four properties belonging to the North Bay General Hospital are going on the block.

There are four properties that could officially go on the block this month include the McLaren site (the former St. Joseph's Hospital), the Scollard site (the former Civic Hospital), the Cooper House, and the Nipissing Building.

Newspaper ads will be posted in June.

Glenn Scanlan, the executive director of the North Bay Regional Health Centre Project, said the properties must be put up for sale because investors begin shopping during the summer and make their offers in the fall.

He has no idea as to what interest is out there, but five different groups have asked for information.

"Timing is an issue here," said Scanlan in a June 16 news release. "The (hospital) gets three months carrying costs (from the province) to manage the empty buildings, and that's it. So we need to put them up for sale as we have no money to further care for the buildings. We're in the business of health care, not real estate."

The move to the new hospital site on Highway 17 begins in January 2011.
