Wesley Hanson will be the new president and CEO of Noront Resources Ltd. (TSX:NOT), effective June 22.
Hanson will take the position from Joseph Hamilton and Paul Parisotto, who have acted as the company's interim co-CEOs since October 2008.
Hanson is the former vice president of mine development for Western Goldfields, before the recent announcement of its business combination with New Gold Inc. He previously held the position of vice president of technical services for Kinross Gold Corporation. He held several senior positions in the mining industry throughout his 25 year career where he has been directly involved in the engineering construction and commissioning of numerous mining projects in Canada, the U.S., Brazil, Chile and Russia.
Noront Resources is focused on its significant and multiple, high-grade nickel-copper-platinum-palladium, chromite and vanadium discoveries in an area known as the "Ring of Fire", an emerging multi-metals district located in the James Bay Lowlands.
