Tembec founder Frank Dottori is one of the inaugural board of directors of Thunder Bay's new research centre for the bio-economy.
The Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE) is a $25 million institute tasked to find the best way to utilize the region's bio-fibre. It's being called a “cluster” that will combine the region's natural attributes plus the city's post-secondary educational and research strengths with the area's workforce to create a new economic opportunities and jobs for future generations.
CRIBE will be established as a non-profit organization located on the Confederation College campus. The marquee project for CRIBE will be a bio-refinery pilot plant established on the Abitibi-Bowater site in Thunder Bay.
