New Liskeard contractor lands highway project

Pedersen Contracting of New Liskeard was awarded a provincial contract to realign a two-km section of Highway 65 near Elk Lake in northeastern Ontario. The contract is valued at $1.4 million.

The contract is valued at $1.4 million. Work begins this month and will be completed later this year.

An Aug. 8 Ontario government news release said the project will relocate this section of road a safe distance away from the Montreal River while the river embankment will be strengthened to prevent erosion.
