AuRico Gold said its Young-Davidson gold project in northeastern Ontario remains on schedule toward pouring its first gold by the end of March.
The Toronto-based company issued its first monthly status report, Feb. 3, for its gold mine near Matachewan stating that the 18-month pre-production phase is nearing completion and mill processing construction is 92 per cent complete.
“The entire operating team at Young-Davidson remains focused on realizing production by the end of the first quarter and remains confident that this milestone continues to be achievable,” said Peter McPhail, AuRico's chief operating officer.
The company has stockpiled open pit ore for its mill feed as operations move into commercial production.
An important milestone, McPhail said, is that the construction and operating team have achieved 1,350,000 man-hours without a lost time injury.
