Management shuffle at the AbitibiBowater

John Weaver has resigned from AbitibiBowater's board of directors.

A Nov. 2 company press release cities “personal reasons” for his Oct. 31 departure.

Weaver is the former Executive Chairman of the Montreal paper giant and served as president and CEO of Abitibi-Consolidated from 1999 to 2007.

“John was a driving force behind the creation of AbitibiBowater and he has continued to support the organization as it progresses through its current restructuring,” said company president David Paterson in a statement.
