Liberty Mines, whose Redstone Mine sits 25 kilometres southeast of Timmins, has announced the Redstone nickel concentrator is operating at full capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day.

“This is a milestone for the company which enables us to run our mining and milling operations efficiently,” says president / CEO Gary Nash in a release.

“The extra capacity of the mill provides us the opportunity to further enhance those efficiencies.”

The company is currently working towards approvals from the Ministry of Environment to increase the concentrator's permitted capacity to 2,000 tonnes per day.

In June, the McWatters open pit produced 32,500 tonnes of ore grading 0.42 per cent nickel, while the associated underground operations produced 16,278 tonnes grading 1.17 per cent nickel from development and stoping.
