Laurentian University students to compete in NASA excavation challenge

With support from Penguin Automated Systems Inc., students from Sudbury's Laurentian University will compete in NASA's 2009 Regolith Excavation Challenge at the NASA Ames Research Park in California, Oct 16-18.

 
With support from Penguin Automated Systems Inc., students from Sudbury's Laurentian University will compete in NASA's 2009 Regolith Excavation Challenge at the NASA Ames Research Park in California, Oct 16-18.

The local team, known as Laurentian ROCK, is comprised of students, creative engineers and industry professionals who will utilize telerobotic or autonomous processes to excavate a measurement of most lunar ground material within a specific time limit. Winners will be eligible to receive prizes of US$100,000, $150,000 and $500,000.
