Narrowly avoiding a lock-out or strike, Laurentian University and the Laurentian University Staff Union (LUSU) reached a tentative collective agreement on Aug. 9.

Narrowly avoiding a lock-out or strike, Laurentian University and the Laurentian University Staff Union (LUSU) reached a tentative collective agreement on Aug. 9.

The current collective agreement expired June 30, which would have put both parties in a legal position to strike or lock-out Aug. 10.

Details of the contract will be released once the agreement has been ratified by both parties in the coming days.

More than 240 unionized non-faculty staff are represented by LUSU, including clerical, secretarial, maintenance, printing, operations, residence and library jobs, among others.
