Sudbury's Laurentian University will soon be home to yet another centre of excellence as the school's senate has approved development for a Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH).
The new centre seeks to become a national, international and Northern Ontario hub for occupational health and safety research in resource-based industries. It will provide a research forum for industry, safe workplace associations, labour groups, government organizations and researchers to share problems and solutions related to workplace injury and disease.
The research team features experts from a variety of backgrounds, including human kinetics, psychology, engineering, nursing and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
Heading up CROSH will be Dr. Sylvain Grenier, associate professor in the department of human kinetics.
