The grants total more than $1 million to study forestry, food pathogens and mass transfer applications.

All grants listed are listed over a period of five years.

Ehsan Atoofian received $125,000 to research power and performance optimization techniques for multi-core processors.

Han Chen received $170,000 to research productivity, carbon sequestration and diversity of the central boreal forest in changing environments.

Deli Li received $142,000 for research on probability limit theorems and statistical applications.

Azim Mallik received $120,000 to research habitat filter, priority effect and ecological engineering of dominant species in post-fire succession.

Inderjit Nirdosh received $100,000 for his research solid-liquid mass transfer applications.

Heidi Schraft received $155,000 for her research on biofilm formation by foodborne microorganisms.

Adam Van Tuyl received $90,000 for his research using commutative algebra to investigate problems in graph theory and algebraic geometry.

Nam Yu received $140,000 for the research of pseudorandom sequences and error correcting codes for future wireless communications.

The new grants for Canada’s top researchers are through the Discovery Grants Program, administered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council.
