KWG Resources has posted an updated resource calculation for its Big Daddy chromite deposit in the Ring of Fire area of the James Bay lowlands.
At a 15 per cent cutoff, the measured resource is 29.5 tonnes grading 29 per cent chromite, with an indicated resource of 7.9 tonnes grading 26.7 per cent, and an inferred resource of 4.8 tonnes grading 25.0 per cent.
The results are based on a 42-hole core-drilling program completed last March.
Cliffs Chromite Far North is managing the project. KWG has a 30 per cent interest in the deposit.
KWG said the size of the deposit has increased without drilling deeper.
In a July 4 release, company president Frank Smeenk said having a measured category for this updated resource calculation is an “important step in determining feasibility of the Big Daddy deposit.”
Smeenk said among the mining options on the table include sorting the ore or selectively mining the “high grade massive domains with the potential for high grade direct ship, lumpy ore.”
