Brett Resources has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Fort Frances Chiefs Secretariat and the Lac des Milles Lacs First Nation.

The MOU covers exploration activities being conducted by Brett on its Hammond Reef Gold Project in northwestern Ontario. This process of “mutual respect” will maintain an ongoing dialogue toward realizing an Impact Benefit Agreement (IBM).

The gold exploration project is 220 kilometres west of Thunder Bay.

“Brett realizes that this MOU represents a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to advance the Hammond Reef Project,” said company president Patrick Soares in a statement. “Together, we are hopeful that the development of the Hammond Reef Project will lead to long lasting benefits in northwestern Ontario.”

The Vancouver-based junior miner recently said metallurgical tests at its Hammond Reef property in northwestern Ontario indicate gold recovery will be 93 per cent.

The project has an inferred resource of 155 million tonnes at 1.04 grams per tonne gold totally 5.19 million ounces of gold at a 0.60 grams per tonne cut-off.
