Espanola's industrial park will welcome its first tenant in the light industrial park this spring, after council accepted an offer from Helios Storage Solutions to purchase eight of the park's serviced lots.
Helios was founded by local entrepreneurs Trevor Tario and Jeff Scharf.
“We are very excited about the approval of this property purchase. Espanola seems to be a great fit for our company,” said Tario, a director and vice-president of energy production at Helios, in a press release. “The affordability and quality of the serviced industrial lots are what brought us here, but the personal dealings with the town staff and consultants is what sold us. We cannot wait to become a community-involved company and aid in the growth of this sector in Espanola.”
The first phase of the Helios project will encompass a 16,000-square-foot indoor storage and warehousing facility for personal, commercial and industrial material and equipment. The facility will be marketed primarily to individuals seeking storage space, and indoor and outdoor space, as well as winter and summer servicing will be available for boats, RVs, ATVs and other recreational equipment.
The facility will incorporate a 310-kilowatt rooftop solar array under the province's Feed-in Tariff program, and future phases of the project may follow. Plans may include industrial vestibules for small businesses to set up shop, as well as build-to-suit projects for larger customers.
As “the major hub for the North Shore and Manitoulin Island,” Espanola is the ideal place to locate the new business, enabling the partners to provide service to the camping population, said Scharf, who is a director and vice-president of operations.
“We will not only be providing a safe place for people to store their boats, trailers, and other personal storage needs, but will provide boat wraps and winterizing services for our customers,” he said. “I look forward to doing business in the Town of Espanola.”
Tario is the president of Green Power Solutions Inc., while Scharf is president of Roofing Done Right. The partners are additionally planning to set up offices for their respective companies in the park.
