It may not be Sin City, but Township of Nipigon officials want to come up with a catchy marketing tag line to encourage tourists to stay and play.
Nipigon is launching a branding and signage program designed to “re-define” the community on Lake Superior's north shore.
In a Jan. 10 release, the municipality wants to create a new image based on what makes Nipigon “unique and attractive” to residents, visitors and potential business newcomers.
A local project committee secured provincial funding for the exercise that involves Thunder Bay's Firedog Communications.
“This project will assist the Township of Nipigon in developing the tools necessary to support and grow existing businesses as well as attract visitors and new entrepreneurs, “ says Mayor Richard Harvey in a statement.
“By attracting visitors into Nipigon and helping to strengthen and retail local businesses, this project is an excellent example of stimulating economic growth and diversification,” added Michael Beno, board chair of the Superior North Community Futures Development Corporation.
