Pioneer Construction was awarded a $5.8-million contract to resurface and fix the culverts along an eight-kilometre stretch of Highway 17 between Warren and Hagar. A half-kilometre piece of Highway 539 at Warren will also be resurfaced.

Construction will create 40 jobs and will be finished by next summer.

Miller Paving landed a $4.6-million contract to resurface a 19-kilometre length of Highway 64 north of Sturgeon Falls. Work has started and should be complete by August next year. The project will create 30 jobs.

Highway 64 is an important local link between Highways 17 and 11.
