Highway 11 scheduled for $21-million improvement

The Ontario government has awarded two contracts worth a combined $21.6 million to make improvements to Highway 11. E & E Seegmiller of Kitchener was the winning bidder on a $16.

The Ontario government has awarded two contracts worth a combined $21.6 million to make improvements to Highway 11.

E & E Seegmiller of Kitchener was the winning bidder on a $16.3 million contract for repaving project on a 16-km stretch of the highway near Powassan.

A July 3 Ministry of Northern Development and Mines press release said this will create 160 jobs for pavings, drainage improvements, culvert repairs, guide rail improvements and the construction of a wildlife passage under the highway.

Seegmiller begins construction in July with completion scheduled for later this year.

Aecon Construction of Toronto begins work this month on a $5.3 million project to rebuild an 8-km piece of Highway 11 near Marten River. The project will create 50 jobs and will be also be finished later this year.
