High-growth business opportunities to be divulged

No one will be disappointed with the message Peter Hall delivers in Sudbury later this month about business opportunities.

No one will be disappointed with the message Peter Hall delivers in Sudbury later this month about business opportunities.

The vice-president and chief economist at Export Development Canada said many feel the country is facing a low-growth future but “we don't agree.”

“There is high-growth opportunity and the world is gaining momentum, but you have to look for the growth and it is not obvious,” he said.

Hall's breakfast presentation on April 25 – Let's Talk Exports – will provide the audience with the latest information on the global economy and the impact it will have on Canadian businesses.

“Those involved in international trade are best positioned to find the high-growth opportunities the world has to offer and this places Canada, and the Ontario economy, in a very good position,” he said.

Hall joined Export Development Canada (EDC) in 2004 and he has more than 20 years experience in domestic and international economy analysis and forecasting. In addition to advising senior management at EDC, Hall is a featured speaker at conferences across the country and internationally, and regularly appears in television, radio and print media commenting on recent economic developments and implications for the outlook.

“Canadian exporters are already experiencing dynamic changes in the way they are doing business and everyone can share in these opportunities,” he said. “Some people have got it; and their businesses will be completely transformed by the growth opportunities they are discovering.”

This “new movement” involves every industry and region in Canada, including the Sudbury area.

“Our biggest problem might be arming ourselves for the growth that awaits us,” Hall said.

The presentation, in partnership with Northern Ontario Business, will be held at the Radisson Hotel, 85 Ste. Anne Rd. and begins at 7:15 a.m. Tickets are $33.90 and each attendee will receive access to EDC's sought-after Global Export Forecast, 2012 spring edition.

The deadline for registration is April 18 and can be made online at www.sudburylte.edc.ca or contact Kimberley Wahamaa at 705-673-5705 ex 320 or kimberley@nob.on.ca.
