Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP Michael Gravelle will lead the new Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.
This moves the responsibility for forestry from Donna Cansfield and the Ministry of Natural Resources and gives it to Gravelle, who already leads the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
The province stated the move is in recognition of the important role the industry plays in Ontario's northern communities.
The change was part of a cabinet shuffle performed by Dalton McGuinty, June 24.
