Get energized at First Nation conference

First Nation chiefs and representatives from the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) will meet in Thunder Bay for a regional energy conference. The Valhalla Inn is the venue for the NAN Chiefs Energy Conference 2012.

The Valhalla Inn is the venue for the NAN Chiefs Energy Conference 2012.

NAN's executive council, chiefs, tribal councils, industry and government will attend the three-day event, starting Jan. 31, to outline energy issues and talk about challenges in mapping out a regional energy strategy.

Conference topics will include presentations on community energy needs and diesel dependency, distribution challenges and opportunities, transmission planning and renewable energy development.

NAN is a political territorial organization representing 49 First Nation communities in the James Bay Treaty No. 9 and Treaty No. 5 territory.
