First Nation chiefs and representatives from the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) will meet in Thunder Bay for a regional energy conference.
The Valhalla Inn is the venue for the NAN Chiefs Energy Conference 2012.
NAN's executive council, chiefs, tribal councils, industry and government will attend the three-day event, starting Jan. 31, to outline energy issues and talk about challenges in mapping out a regional energy strategy.
Conference topics will include presentations on community energy needs and diesel dependency, distribution challenges and opportunities, transmission planning and renewable energy development.
NAN is a political territorial organization representing 49 First Nation communities in the James Bay Treaty No. 9 and Treaty No. 5 territory.
