Nipigon's plan to revitalize its waterfront received a positive nudge with a $130,000 cheque from FedNor.

Nipigon's plan to revitalize its waterfront received a positive nudge with a $130,000 cheque from FedNor.

The money is earmarked for the Township of Nipigon's master plan which will include a feasibility study and business plan for a 50-acre waterfront parcel that takes in the marina and surrounding area.

The land is part of the proposed Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area.

“With the waterfront next door to our downtown core where most of our small businesses are located, this plan will engage the community to help identify viable economic development opportunities that will benefit local businesses and lead to growth,” said Richard Harvey, mayor of Nipigon, in a Jan. 26 statement.
