Nine First Nation youth in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) are gaining “invaluable experience” participating in a business mentoring program in Thunder Bay.
Project Beyshick is a one-week mentoring and job shadowing program that focuses on Aboriginal youth in the 21 to 35 age range.
The program, which has been running since 2005, runs from Feb. 25 to March 2.
“Project Beyshick allows First Nation youth to foster a vision for personal success, while at the same time, boosting their confidence to achieve that success,” said NAN deputy grand chief Terry Waboose. “The firsthand experience these young persons will get in a business environment will be invaluable in their future endeavors.”
Some of the Thunder Bay businesses and organizations involved are: NAN, the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund, NAN-Legal Services, Wasaya Airways, Albert Drake-Financial Advisor, Thunder Bay City Hall Aboriginal Liason Officer and Tbay Tel.
