The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) is providing cash for building renovations that will include a 7,000-square foot gymnasium, along with conference, technology and kitchen-catering rooms. Work finishes in December.
With its Infrastructure and Community Development program, the McGuinty government has dropped more than $256 million on 513 projects since 2005. But in an Aug. 14 press release, the government chose not disclose how much is being invested in the project, as is government policy.
“By partnering with First Nations, our government is committed to help create new recreational and economic opportunities that reflect our culture and preserve the heritage of community members,” said NOHFC chairman, Rick Bartolucci, northern development and mines minister.
