First aid training available for mineral exploration field workers

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is sponsoring a two-day wilderness first aid training course for field workers in mineral exploration.

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is sponsoring a two-day wilderness first aid training course for field workers in mineral exploration.

The course, being put on by Sirius Med, will take place May 5 and 6 in Sudbury and Thunder Bay.

Recommended for those working in the field, the course is specifically designed to deal with hazards and illnesses encountered in the back country and at remote work sites.

The course will cover the basic principles of wilderness first aid with an emphasis on practical skills, assessment, decision-making, and dealing with extreme environmental conditions. Course content includes patient assessment, shock, wound management, burns, fractures and sprains, environmental injuries, common medical problems and first aid kits. The course will include outdoor activities.
