North Bay received $3 million from FedNor for five economic development-related initiatives.
The Yves Landry Foundation had the biggest haul with $2 million earmarked for training investments in support of innovation and advanced manufacturing geared to small and medium-sized companies.
Canadore College took in $955,000 to support the development of the Media Industry Private Sector Research Centre on the campus. The money will be used to buy equipment and develop information technology infrastructure to renovate a 3,250-foot media lab.
The City of North Bay received a $70,000 cheque to develop web-based resources to help local business recruit and retain skilled workers.
About $55,000 is earmarked for two FedNor youth internships with the city and Nipissing University.
