“We are proud to work in partnership with the Government of Canada to build a strong, self-sustaining economy for the East Algoma region,” said Beth West, mayor of the Township of Plummer Additional. “This FedNor investment will help identify and maximize the use of regional resources while providing partner communities with access to the tools they need to make informed decisions.”

The funding will go towards the development of an economic development strategy and regional opportunities plan for the East Algoma region and allow the participating communities to “identify local priorities and capitalize on regional opportunities,” according to the release.

Funding comes from FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program.
