Construction is underway on a new French Catholic School in Sault Ste. Marie.
Built for the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, the $7.48 million project will merge three existing schools.
The Ontario government is investing $6.68 million in the project. The school board is contributing $800,000. The project involves renovating an existing school and building a 36,000-square-foot addition.
The entire complex will serve students from junior kindergarten to Grade 12. The new school will have modern classrooms, a double gymnasium, library, science and computer labs, support centre, kitchen and auditorium.
CSCNO Director of Education Lyse-Anne Papineau said “bringing many of our francophone partners under a single roof allows us to grow the francophone space in which our students learn and strengthen the quality of the primary and secondary school education we provide.”
