Rob Patterson, a software implementation specialist with Sudbury-based Century Systems Technologies, has successfully climbed Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro in support of HIV/AIDS.

Started in 2002 by former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa to help fight the rise of HIV and AIDS within the country, the Mount Kili Challenge is organized by Geita Gold Mine Limited.

This year's climb raised US$500,000 as 46 climbers attempted to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak and the world's largest freestanding mountain. On the final day of the seven-day climb, Patterson was one of the 38 to reach the Uhuru peak at 5,895 metres.

Century Systems, which supported Patterson's journey, develops and implements solutions to collect and manage geological, geotechnical and geochemical data for clients in the mining and exploration industries.
