Canadore College president Barbara Taylor will retire April 8.

She has been president and CEO of the North Bay post-secondary institute since 2002. Her 30-year career in the college sector includes a 18-year stint at George Brown College.

Canadore's Board of Governors accepted her resignation “with regret” Dec. 15.

Taylor is being called a “passionate educator and leader” whose many achievements include providing the college's 2012 Strategic Direction, fundraising for a $25 million shared library with Nipissing University, establishing more than a dozen new programs, growing Aboriginal enrolment and providing for a new permanent campus in Parry Sound.

She is also active in the community serving on several committees and work groups for Contact North, North Bay General Hospital and WoodWorks.
