Attendance figures for the Canadian Heritage Bushplane Centre in Sault Ste. Marie are 70 per cent higher in the first quarter of 2012 than the same time last period.
Edie Suriano, marketing and events coordinator, attributes the increase to the recent CARHA hockey tournament, increased promotional efforts and the launch of the Wildfires 3D movie.
“Our staff and volunteers work hard to offer our guests an entertaining experience, and nothing is more rewarding than the support we are receiving from the community,” Suriano said in a news release.
The centre is now marketing itself as an event venue, and will host upcoming activities such as the second annual Wedding Expo, the Festival of Beer, corporate events, weddings, the annual Mother's Day brunch and Passport to Unity, which is expected to increase admission numbers.
The centre is also aiming to expand its appeal to a wider audience, working to create new exhibits and develop workshops in painting and photography.
