Brett Resources has selected consultants Scott Wilson Roscoe Postle Associates to prepare a scoping study on its Hammond Reef gold project, west of Thunder Bay.
Work will be completed by October and will include metallurgical testing at SGS Lakefield assay lab as well as geotechnical and baseline environmental work started by TBT Engineering of Thunder Bay.
In a June 8 release, the company said the studies will offer insight into a mine plan, processing plant and determine capital and operating costs.
“We anticipate that the results of the preliminary assessment will demonstrate the economic viability of Hammond Reef,” said company president Patrick Soares in a statement. “Northwest Ontario has an available well-trained, highly-skilled workforce and supportive local communities. The study will also assist Brett in identifying where additional resources may be found.”
A new resource estimate released last fall pegs Hammond Reef as having 4.6 million ounces of gold.
