Boxing Day brainstorming with North Bay's mayor

North Bay Mayor Vic Fedeli is again looking to pick the brains of the city's ex-pats returning home for the holidays.

Fedeli is hosting his seventh annual Boxing Day Think Tank, Dec. 26.

The concept is to gather former residents with global business, education and professional connections for a two-hour lunch and ask them to share information about companies on the move.

"We know they want to see their hometown grow and prosper, and spending a couple of hours together over the holidays is a great opportunity for them to help the city out."

Fedeli said the gatherings have produced a fountain of good ideas over the years that have either been carried out or are underway.

From these meetings, the seeds have been planted for residential development on the former CP Rail lands, selling city-owned land for home construction, selling industrial park space for $1 an acre, converting a former railway station into a museum, lobbying for a new hospital, and opening French public schools.

To register, e-mail Fedeli at mayor@cityofnorthbay.ca or call North Bay city hall at 705-474-0400, ex. 2517.
