The numbers are in for second-quarter production at Apollo Gold Corporation's open-pit Black Fox mine, 64 kilometres east of Timmins.
The company's Black Fox mill processed 78,000 tonnes of ore between May 2009, when commercial production was first achieved, and June. The ore reached an average grade of 5.1 grams of gold per tonne of ore, producing 11,860 ounces of gold, with a recovery rate of 92.5 per cent.
The mill reached an average throughput of 1,280 tonnes per day.
Steady state throughput of 1,500 tonnes per day was achieved in the second half of June 2009. The total rose to an average of 1,800 tonnes per day through the first 26 days of July, as the result of a new crushing circuit being commissioned at the mill.
