North Bay-based mine builders, Cementation, was recognized by the Ontario government as a top apprenticeship provider for 2012.
Cementation was one of four companies to win the annual Minister's Award for Apprenticeship Training celebrating employers that show leadership in training apprentices and promote careers in the skilled trades.
“The employees involved in the program are committed to advancing their careers and they are all grateful for the opportunity,” said Eric Hodgins, the company's personnel manager. “This program benefits both the individual and the company, and we appreciate this recognition from the Ontario government.
Cementation currently has 17 employees involved in the apprenticeship program in the mechanical and electrical fields in Ontario, and an additional 7 apprentices working in other regions across Canada.
The company is a frequent winner as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers.
