Algoma U hosting student business competition

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie community are invited to witness the final presentations at Algoma University's sixth annual Business Case Competition, happening this Friday, March 30.

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie community are invited to witness the final presentations at Algoma University's sixth annual Business Case Competition, happening this Friday, March 30.

The competition challenges Algoma's fourth-year business students to prepare a solution to a business case, with no access to electronics or the Internet, and present it to a panel of judges comprised of local business professionals for adjudication.

This year, the judges' panel will include Amanda Lang, CBC's senior business reporter and co-host of CBC's Lang & O'Leary Exchange.

“For the first time, we are opening up the presentation room during the second set of case presentations,” said Cathy Denomee, chair of the department of business and economics at Algoma University, in a news release. “We hope to see other members of the community, high school students who are interested in studying business in university, and anyone else from the community who wants to see our best and brightest perform under pressure.”

Following the presentations, the winner will be announced and students have the opportunity to network with local business professionals.

The event takes place at Algoma's Water Tower Inn from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
