The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre will acknowledge area innovators at the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma Region (SSMARt) Awards event July 10.
Twenty-two nominees are in the running for seven awards, which recognize achievements in science and technology in the Algoma District.
Categories include Innovation Company
of the Year, Innovation in Web and Social Media, Innovation Project
of the Year, Innovation Educator of the Year, Innovation Researcher
of the Year, Innovation Student/Graduate of the Year and Innovation
Youth of the Year.
“It’s important to raise awareness and
recognize innovative companies, researchers, educators and students
in our region,” Tom Vair, the innovation centre’s executive
director, said in a news release. “Once again our judges were truly
impressed with the calibre of innovation taking place, and we look
forward to an exciting awards night.”
The awards celebration is
open to the public and will take place at the Grand Gardens Ballroom
