The East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation has received $157,500 from FedNor for community-based economic development initiatives in the East Algoma region.
FedNor Minister Tony Clement said the funding will “help strengthen the economy of East Algoma and promote long-term growth and prosperity throughout the region.”
The East Algoma CFDC, one of 24 organizations in Northern Ontario, is based in Blind River.
“The East Algoma CFDC is committed to playing a leadership role in the development of the regional economy,” Vyrn Peterson, chair of the East Algoma CFDC, said in a news release. “This FedNor investment clearly demonstrates confidence in our organization and will help strengthen the economic outlook for the communities and businesses we serve.”
Funding was provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports initiatives that strengthen community economic development, enhance business growth and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
