Sioux Lookout is doing some administrative restructuring in a cost-cutting move to finalize its 2012 budget.

The municipality is combining the public works and development services. Peter Moyer, manager of development services, will oversee both departments. A second public works management decision has been eliminated and a replacement for this vacancy will be recruited this fall.

The restructuring is expected to save the municipality $100,000 annually.

A headhunting firm will recruit a new chief administrative officer (CAO). Interim CAO Arie Hoogenboom said the “selection of the right CAO will be one of this council's most important decisions during their term in office.”

Hoogenboom replaced Merlin Dewing, who resigned suddenly last October.
