An independent not-for-profit, Workplace Safety North (WSN) is one of four sector-based health and safety associations in Ontario, and provides province-wide Ministry-approved workplace health and safety training and services for the mining and forest products industries, as well as for businesses across northern Ontario.

With health and safety specialists located across the province, WSN and its legacy organizations have been helping make Ontario workplaces safer for more than 100 years. A leading provider of health and safety training and consulting, businesses call upon WSN for expert advice and information.

Services

Safe Workplace Ontario third-party business health and safety certification program, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board safety group incentive programs, and business health and safety program and culture audit, on-site health and safety consulting.

Training

Ministry-approved courses: Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification, Occupational Health and Safety Representative, Working at Heights Safety Training, mining and forestry common core mandatory skills training. Related courses include Competent Supervisor, Mental Health First Aid, Positive Psychology, and Mine Rescue.

To fulfill its safety mandate, WSN maintains closeness and familiarity with the day-to-day realities of Ontario resource industries, and oversees Ontario Mine Rescue. Companies participate in WSN-sponsored research, planning and events – all of which have helped to build solid working relationships with industry. This collaborative approach helps increase awareness, knowledge and consistency with regard to the occupational health and safety needs of Ontario workers, with a common goal: safe, sustainable, and profitable production.
