Requests for proposal (RFP) are being sought to design the first-phase development of a 138-kilometre fibre optic network for Timmins.

The project is under the supervision of the Timmins Smart Community Network (TSCN), a community-based partnership working to develop a high-speed, high-bandwidth, scalable fibre-optic network for the municipal, business and public sectors of the Timmins community.

The project will be carried out in three phases - the first connecting key public sector sites in the municipalities, followed by connecting local businesses and the last connecting residents.

The deadline for RFPs is Oct. 27 by 4 p.m. A copy of the RFP is available from the City of Timmins Web site at www.city.timmins.on.ca.
