The Timmins-based consultation firm Commerce Management Group (CMG) is expanding into the energy sector.

Founded more than 25 years ago, CMG specializes in strategic planning and alignment, project management, community development and facilitation for the mining, forestry, commercial, industrial, municipal, regional and First Nations industries.

The expansion forms part of CMG’s growth strategy to support clients in industrial, municipal and Indigenous sectors to plan and execute successful energy projects.

Allen Reid, the former chief operating officer of renewable generation and power marketing at Ontario Power Generation, will lead the expansion.

“I am delighted to join the senior management team at CMG as the company embarks on this exciting corporate expansion,” Reid said in a May 4 news release.

“Growing the company’s portfolio into the energy market provides clients with additional value-added solutions as they assess, plan and undertake infrastructure and community development opportunities.

"Our goal is to offer a world-class collective of multi-disciplinary experts in Northern Ontario to deliver progressive and connected energy solutions that are important to the region’s growth plans.”

With the launch of a new energy division, the company now offers a full suite of consulting services, including Indigenous and municipal energy management; analysis and assessments, updates and development for community and municipal energy plans; and energy-based operational and project management.
