The Nord-Aski Regional Community Economic Development Corp. (CFDC) of Hearst, and the local initiatives program will both benefit from money provided by FedNor.

The announcement came from Timmins-James Bay MP, Reg Belair and Algoma-Manitoulin MP, Brent St. Denis on April 29, on behalf on the Hon. Andy Mitchell, the secretary of state (rural development) for FedNor.

The Nord-Aski CFDC will receive $300, 000, of which $250,000 will be used to keep the facility running, while the remainder will support projects of the local initiatives program.

The CFDC works closely with communities in its service area and helps initiate activities related to tourism projects and entrepreneurial needs, says St. Denis.

In 2001 Nord-Aski CFDC invested $1,409,765 to help develop or maintain 77 jobs, which benefited the community.
