Reminiscent of the re-birth of the snowmobiling trend, Chapleau is latching onto the latest outdoor craze of ATV recreation by forming its own ATV club. With the sport experiencing unprecedented growth, town and tourism officials believe the sport will deliver an economic jump-start to the community similar to snowmobiling.
A Chapleau ATV club, a non-profit group, held an inaugural meeting in mid-October and plans to elect a board of directors in November.
Potential trails are being mapped out and the new executive will establish a trail network for riders by next summer.
